Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev won his initial trophy for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.

The win also means the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused some to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
